According to the local hydrological conditions, if the precipitation is small and there is no standing water, it can be placed outdoors, otherwise protective facilities must be installed.
For example, the protection level of the motor can be set to IP56. If it is vertical, a rain cover can be added, and the price difference is not significant. Regular maintenance and inspection of the motor insulation are also required.

The enclosure protection level (IP code) is a classification of products based on their characteristics of dust prevention, foreign object intrusion prevention, water resistance, and moisture resistance. The external objects referred to here, including tools and human fingers, should not come into contact with the live parts inside the lamp to avoid electric shock. It is usually composed of two numbers, with the first number indicating the level of dust prevention and foreign object intrusion prevention of the product; The second number represents the degree of sealing of the product against moisture and water intrusion. The larger the number, the higher its protection level. For example, the protection level (IP code) of the shell is shown as IP55. This is an ABB brake motor. Cooling towers are usually placed outdoors in buildings and are often exposed to wind and rain. They can be used with an IP65 rating, even if the rain falls directly on top. If there is a shelter or something, an IP55 rating is sufficient. Occasionally encountering rain or humid weather is not a problem. If there is a house indoors, an IP54 rating is also acceptable, as long as the indoor environment is dry.
 
The protection level of ABB standard motors is IP55, which can generally meet the conventional protection level. Most of our customers order standard motors, and some also order IP56, which has a high cost performance ratio.
