Siemens motor 1LE0001 series no longer comes standard with CE marking

A few days ago, a customer ordered a batch of Siemens motors from Chuangjuman, with a note that CE certification was required. Later, I told him that the new motors no longer come standard with CE certification. Previously, it was standard equipment, so there was no need to pay extra. Now, CE certification is charged separately. Although the cost is not high, it requires additional customization and accessories.

Previously, CE certification was standard. All the items currently in stock are new models.

Many customers' mechanical equipment is exported, and the "CE" mark is a mandatory certification mark in the EU market. Whether it is products produced by enterprises within the EU or products produced in other countries, in order to freely circulate in the EU market, the "CE" mark must be affixed to indicate that the product meets the basic requirements of the EU's "New Methods for Technical Coordination and Standardization" directive.

Let's take a look at the letter Siemens sent to our agent, which reads as follows:

According to EU regulation 640/2009, starting from January 1, 2017, the EU requires 2-pole, 4-pole, and 6-pole motors with a power range of 0.75kW to 375kW to meet the IE3 efficiency level. However, it is allowed to use a motor drive system consisting of a frequency converter and an IE2 efficiency level motor in the drive system.

In order to comply with the EU directive, the 1LE0001 series motors manufactured on January 1, 2017 will no longer come with CE markings as standard on their nameplates. If it is specifically required that the CE mark be marked on the nameplate of the 1LE0001 series motor, please make sure to choose the X09 option (the motor has CE mark). At that time, an additional English label will be affixed to the motor stating 'IE2 efficiency level motor for frequency conversion only'.

What does this mean?

In human terms, it means that the EU has stricter energy efficiency requirements for motors, and the energy efficiency levels circulating in the market must meet the IE3 standard. If IE2 series motors need to carry CE markings, the X09 option must be selected.

Previously, all motors were equipped with CE certification as standard, but now it is becoming increasingly strict internationally. This is also a good thing, because high standards are essential for improving product quality. We need high-quality products.
