Siemens' past and present!
Date:2020-07-31 09:30:31

On October 12, 1847, the predecessor of today's Siemens AG was established in a handicraft workshop in the backyard of an apartment building in Berlin.
In the following 170 years, Siemens continued to reshape itself, successfully responding to crises, and constantly adjusting its business portfolio, thus proving its courage to change. Today, Siemens is one of the leading companies in the digital field.
In the past few decades, some of the values that Siemens has inherited have laid the foundation for the company's success, such as a focus on quality and customer orientation. What are the guiding principles behind this?
Siemens AG President and CEO Joe Kae ser stated.
Everything we do must bring long-term benefits and create value for our shareholders, employees, customers, partners, and society

At the beginning of its establishment, Siemens Halsk Telegraph Machine Manufacturing Company only had 10 employees. In just a few decades, the company has developed from a workshop specializing in instruments such as telegraph machines, electrically triggered railway alarm bells, wire insulation, and water meters to one of the well-known electrical engineering technology companies.
The invention of the pointer telegraph in 1847 and the discovery of the working principle of the practical generator in 1866 laid the foundation for the success of Siemens. Werner von Siemens is considered one of the pioneers of modern electrical engineering.
In its 170 year history, Siemens has overcome a series of significant challenges, including the impact of two world wars and the resulting asset losses. In addition, Siemens has completely transformed into a model of clean business after experiencing a compliance crisis more than a decade ago.

Today, Siemens has 350000 employees and is vigorously expanding its business in the fields of electrification, automation, and digital automation and digitization. Siemens' early layout in the digital field is also in line with other important milestones in the company's history. Nowadays, Siemens has become a leader in the digital field, for example, by using MindSphere to connect devices and systems to the cloud, creating new business models.
Siemens laid the foundation for its digital expertise as early as ten years ago. Since then, Siemens has invested over 10 billion euros to further expand its position as one of the digital drivers.

Since its inception, Siemens has continuously demonstrated its ability to explore new markets. The sales crisis in the Prussian telegraph market in the 1850s forced Siemens to seek new markets and target international expansion - such as laying a 9000 kilometer telegraph network in Russia and laying submarine cables from Britain.
After establishing offices in London and St. Petersburg in 1850 and 1855 respectively, Siemens quickly established offices in other parts of the world, such as Brussels (1871), Paris and The Hague (1879), Vienna and Warsaw (1879), Stockholm and Turin (1880), New York (1886), Tokyo (1887), Rio de Janeiro (1888), Budapest (1890), Chicago (1892), and Johannesburg (1895). Today, Siemens' business covers nearly 200 countries worldwide.
