Where is the ABB motor brake located? There are several main braking methods
Date:2021-08-16 17:09:52
The ABB motor brake is located inside the motor and is wrapped in an iron shell on the outside, mainly to protect the internal components from damage. Of course, the main function of the brake is to provide braking effect, but reverse braking and energy consumption braking are both achieved through the brake.
Working principle of ABB motor brake:
The MQAEJ and QAEJ series electromagnetic brake three-phase asynchronous motors are power-off brake motors, and their DC disc brakes are installed on the end cover of the non shaft extension end of the motor. When the motor is connected to the power supply, the rectifier of the brake is also connected to the power supply. Due to the electromagnetic attraction, the electromagnet attracts the street iron and compresses the spring. The brake disc is disconnected from the street iron and the end cover, and the motor runs. When the power supply is cut in, the brake electromagnet loses its electromagnetic attraction, and the spring force pushes the street iron to press the brake disc. Under the action of friction, the ABB motor immediately stops rotating.
There are two types of braking methods:
1. Mechanical braking:
The method of using a mechanical device to quickly stop the motor after cutting off the power source is called mechanical braking. There are two commonly used mechanical braking devices in China: electromagnetic brake and electromagnetic clutch.
2. Electric braking:
The method of generating an electromagnetic torque (braking torque) opposite to the actual rotation direction of the motor after cutting off the power supply, forcing the motor to quickly stop, is called electric braking. The commonly used electric braking methods include reverse braking and energy consumption braking.
ABB's motor with brake wiring method:
The wiring of the brake of ABB frequency converter is different from other frequency converters. Taking ACS800 frequency converter as an example, when purchasing and selecting frequency converters, it is necessary to conduct research. If the motor needs to brake, relevant frequency converter built-in brake optional parts and brake resistors need to be configured. Then connect the braking resistor to the R+and R - terminals of the frequency converter during installation.
What brake does ABB motor use?
The QAEJ series uses imported Class A brakes - Lenze brakes from Germany with a protection level of IP54;
The MQAEJ series uses domestically produced B-class brakes with a protection level of IP23.
