What is the speed regulation principle of ABB dual speed motor

1. The △ - YY variable pole speed regulation method for ABB dual speed motors: the number of pole pairs when connected is 1P, and the number of pole pairs when connected to YY is 2P. The synchronous speed of YY connection is twice that of △ connection. Assuming the supply voltage remains constant, in order to fully utilize the current carrying capacity of the winding cable, the current of a single winding remains constant after YY connection. Therefore, the power of the motor after YY connection is 2/√ 3 (about 1.155) times that of the △ connection. That is to say, the △ - YY connection variable pole speed regulation is approximately a constant power speed regulation method.

2. ABB dual speed motor Y-YY variable pole speed regulation method: The number of pole pairs when Y is connected is 1P, and the number of pole pairs when YY is connected is 2P. The synchronous speed of YY is twice that of Y. Assuming the supply voltage remains constant, in order to fully utilize the current carrying capacity of the winding cable, the current of a single winding remains constant after YY connection. Therefore, the power of the motor after YY connection is twice that of Y connection, which means that Y-YY pole changing speed regulation belongs to the constant torque speed regulation method. 
3. The principle of variable pole speed regulation for ABB dual speed motors: The A, B, and C phases of the dual speed motor have two stator windings, and changing the connection of the stator windings can achieve a change in the number of pole pairs.
